Diamond Packaging Wins Recognition in 2007 Gold Ink Awards Competition
Date: July 18 2007

Rochester, NY – Diamond Packaging of Rochester, NY earned recognition in the 20th Annual Gold Ink Awards Competition by winning a Bronze Award for their Diamondessence™ combination packaging direct mail promotion.

The Gold Ink Awards, which is co-sponsored by Publishing Executive and Printing Impressions magazines, has earned the reputation for attracting the highest quality of work from printing professionals throughout North America.

Winners were chosen from over 1,500 entries submitted within 50 different categories. Winning pieces surpassed their competitors based on print quality, technical difficulty, and overall visual effect.

"Diamond’s winning entry has been honored by the Gold Ink Panel of Judges as among this year’s best printing in North America," said Mark S. Hertzog, Group Publisher of Publishing Executive. "Diamond Packaging should be very proud."

Diamond’s new Diamondessence™ combination packaging incorporates a wide variety of styles and materials that truly set products apart from their competition by revealing the beauty of what's inside. Packaging that inspires. Packaging that sells.

The wrap-around window structure combines package integrity with maximum product visibility by showcasing a diamond as if it floats in mid-air. To achieve even greater shelf impact, techniques such as hot foil stamping, embossing, and specialty coating were also employed.

All of the components in the direct mail promotion, including a coordinated brochure and business reply card, were printed utilizing the Diamond TruCOLOR™ color system.

The Diamond TruCOLOR™ color system is a proprietary method of color control, color monitoring and color matching, offering unparalleled quality and economic benefits compared to traditional four-color process printing. The Diamond TruCOLOR™ color system uses just six colors to accurately and optimally reproduce over 1000 colors, while delivering near-photographic fidelity from an offset printing process. It is an efficient and economical method for reproducing a variety of vibrant and subtle colors without expensive plate changes.

The Diamond TruCOLOR™ color system also incorporates frequency modulated (FM) screening. FM screening is unique in that it varies the number of dots used, as opposed to amplitude modulated (AM) screening, which varies the size of the dot. The 20-micron FM dot eliminates all issues related to screen angles, resulting in smoother vignettes and softer color-to-color transitions not possible with traditional four-color process printing.

This year's winners will be honored at the Annual Gold Ink Awards Banquet on September 10, 2007 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL during Graph Expo 2007. In addition, Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in each category will be highlighted in the September issue of Publishing Executive magazine.
