Diamond Packaging Wins Six Awards in 2023 North American Paperboard Packaging Competition

Rochester, NY – Diamond Packaging today announced that it won six awards in the 2023 North American Paperboard Packaging Competition, the premier competition for carton manufacturers involved in the concept, design, print, performance, and shelf appeal of paperboard packaging. Awards were presented last month during the 2023 Fall Meeting & Leadership Conference in San Diego, CA.

The competition, sponsored by the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) and judged by a jury of packaging professionals, industry experts, and professors, is the premier competition for carton manufacturers involved in the concept, design, print, performance, and shelf appeal of paperboard packaging. It is also an affirmation of paperboard as a more sustainable choice for packaging in today’s eco-conscious world.

Diamond won an Excellence Award: Sustainability in the Miscellaneous category for Inkbox’ Freehand Tattoo Marker Kit.

The folding cartons were converted utilizing FSC-certified Clearwater ReMagine™ 10% PCW paperboard and offset printed with three PMS inks, in-line with UV matte coating.

Multi-level blind embossing adds depth and dimension to the design along with an appealing tactile quality that promotes consumer interaction.

The packaging also reinforces the unlimited creative potential within the kit. Embossed examples of freehand-drawn art, including hearts, faces, flowers, birds, and stars, among others, illustrate how users can bring their tattoo dreams to life.

Diamond won an Excellence Award: Sustainability in the Cosmetics category for packaging produced for Parlux Fragrances’ Eilish No. 2, the new fragrance by Billie Eilish.

The cartons were converted utilizing FSC-certified Billerud CrownBoard Prestige paperboard and offset printed with UV process and PMS inks, in-line with UV matte and UV satin spot coating over Envirofoil.

Envirofoil's mirror-like finish makes it a perfect choice for conveying the stunning graphics. Transfer metallized Envirofoil is manufactured with less than 1% of the aluminum of traditional foil laminates, reuses the film carrier multiple times, and is recyclable as paper – as certified by numerous U.S. and European laboratories.

The UV satin spot coating on the front and rear panels provide a striking contrast to the overall matte finish surrounding it.

Multi-level embossed accents, including the metallic bust on the front panel, add dimension and complement the design of the primary container — a bottle gilded in gunmetal grey and inspired by Eilish's favorite areas on the human body: the collarbone, neck, and back.

Diamond won an Excellence Award in the Cosmetics category for Inter Parfums' Abercrombie & Fitch Away Weekend packaging.

The folding cartons were converted utilizing FSC-certified Clearwater Candesce SBS paperboard, cold foiled, and offset printed with PMS black and custom inks, in-line with UV matte and UV gloss spot coating.

The graphic design incorporates an overall blind embossed linear wave pattern that adds dimension and contributes to a unique visual and tactile presentation.

Foil and embossing accents lend sophistication to the packaging and provide a striking contrast to the matte finish surrounding it.

The side panels are also cold foiled and overprinted with a custom blue ink, which creates shimmering, colorful metallic effects that catch the eye and invite closer inspection.

The combination of color and textures beautifully complement the design of the primary container – a sophisticated, contemporary glass spray bottle with gold text and topped with a gold cap.

Diamond won an Excellence Award in the Cosmetics category for Inter Parfums' Oscar de la Renta Bella Bouquet packaging.

The folding cartons were converted utilizing FSC-certified Billerud CrownBoard Prestige paperboard, cold foiled, and offset printed with three PMS inks, in-line with satin aqueous and UV gloss spot coating.

The graphic design incorporates an overall blind embossed floral pattern that adds dimension and contributes to a unique visual and tactile presentation.

A cold foiled and embossed band (wrapping around the perimeter of the carton) adds distinction and reinforces Oscar de la Renta as a prestige brand.

Diamond won an Excellence Award in the Cosmetics category for Inter Parfums' Oscar de la Renta Bella Tropicale packaging.

The folding cartons were converted utilizing FSC-certified Billerud CrownBoard Prestige paperboard, cold foiled, and offset printed with four color process, Luxor gold, and green PMS inks, in-line with satin aqueous and UV gloss spot coating.

Overprinting transparent gold ink over silver cold foil on the front, side, and rear panels creates shimmering, colorful metallic effects that catch the eye and invite closer inspection.

The graphic design incorporates an overall an overall embossed tropical-inspired floral pattern and an embossed Oscar de la Renta logo framed by a foiled and embossed band that wraps around the entire carton.

Diamond won an Excellence Award in the Cosmetics category for Parlux Fragrances’ Ciao Vince Camuto packaging.

The folding cartons were converted utilizing FSC-certified Clearwater Candesce SBS paperboard and offset printed with process black, custom pink, and three PMS inks, in-line with UV matte and UV high gloss spot coating.

The UV gloss spot coating on the back panel silhouettes the shape of the signature spray bottle and provides a striking contrast to the overall matte finish surrounding it.

The gold hot foil stamped and multi-level embossed accents on the front and top panels add distinction to the packaging and reinforce Vince Camuto as a prestige brand.

All of Diamond’s entries were designed utilizing recyclable paperboards and manufactured using 100% clean, renewable wind energy, in a Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL) and Carbon Neutral (Scope 1 and Scope 2) facility.
