Hedy Cannabis-Infused Chocolate Packaging

With more than a decade of experience as one of the most trusted cannabis companies in the U.S., Columbia Care is entering into the next decade as The Cannabist Company. Hedy, their new cannabis edibles brand, partnered with Diamond to create child-resistant (CR) packaging for a new cannabis-infused chocolate bar.

The Cannabist Company recently launched Hedy as a "brand, as well as a bright, fun and inviting visual representation that truly reflects the uplifting edibles experience." Everything from the product to the packaging was designed with an approachable form factor that is of the highest quality and designed to provide a consistent consumer experience.

Diamond's engineering team customized its award-winning Diamond Lockbox® cannabis packaging design, which is a user friendly and compliant packaging option luxurious enough to rival that of high-end cosmetic brands.

Diamond Lockbox® designs feature discreet child-resistant (CR) release mechanisms to ensure compliance for both child safety and senior adult use effectiveness (SAUE). The reclosable designs maintain CR functionality and produce a clicking sound for audible feedback. 

The cartons utilize laminated, tear-resistant paperboard outer cartons and inserts that can be customized to hold a wide range of products, including edibles, pre rolls, vape cartridges, vape pens, and concentrates.

Unlike the original tray, the customized Hedy tray opens from the side to accommodate larger size products such as the chocolate bar.

The folding cartons were converted utilizing laminated paperboard, and offset printed with five (5) PMS Inks, in-line with UV matte coating and DiamondTouch soft touch coating.

The inner tray was offset printed with two (2) PMS Inks, in-line with UV matte coating and DiamondTouch soft touch coating. The overall soft touch coating adds an appealing tactile quality that promotes consumer interaction.

The eye-catching graphics incorporate the brand's design language, which features an outer sleeve adorned with colorful illustrations and line drawings set against a cream-colored, soft touch background. The inner tray is decorated with a bold orange color that complements the sleeve.

The result is a striking presentation that stands out in the retail cannabis environment and reinforces the upscale branding of the design.
