ESG Policies
Learn more how Diamond Packaging delivers a positive and lasting impact through the execution of its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy.
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Policy
Diamond Packaging is committed to integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into every facet of its operations. Our ESG policy is designed to ensure that we not only comply with regulatory requirements but also proactively contribute to sustainable development, social equity, and ethical governance. We believe that our commitment to ESG is essential for long-term business success and the well-being of our stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and the communities in which we operate.
Environmental
Diamond developed its greenbox sustainability initiative to research, design, and implement packaging solutions that are innovative and sustainable. The core of the initiative – designs, materials, and methods – represents a comprehensive approach to packaging that minimizes environmental impact throughout the supply chain.
In 2021 Diamond Packaging announced a multi-year commitment to purchase carbon offsets through Climate Action Reserve (CAR) to reduce its carbon footprint. Diamond facilities are now carbon neutral (covering Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions).
Diamond has obtained Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) Chain of Custody certification from Preferred by Nature.
FSC certification demonstrates our continued commitment to environmental responsibility. By utilizing paperboard sourced from responsibly managed forests, we can help businesses empower consumers to make more sustainable choices.
Diamond measures its progress on environmental issues through key sustainability metrics, including waste recycling. About 97% of all manufacturing waste (e.g., paperboard, plastic, metal) is recycled annually; all wood pallets are recycled or reused; all office waste is recycled; all remaining waste is recovered, eliminating landfill disposal.
In 2007 Diamond Packaging committed to purchase clean, renewable wind energy for 100% of its electrical energy requirements, becoming one of the first U.S. based folding carton suppliers to do so. The purchase illustrates the company's continued commitment to the environment and the community.
Diamond achieved Zero Waste to Landfill status in 2014, becoming the first U.S.-based folding carton supplier to achieve the distinction. The recovery and recycling program is a natural evolution of the company’s greenbox sustainability initiative and one which will provide long-term environmental and economic benefits.
Social
Diamond’s employee-led Community Service Team has a target to initiate at least six (6) company-sponsored community service drives throughout the year.
With their help Diamond hopes to build an even stronger bond between the company and our community.
Diamond is actively involved in the Rochester community, contributing to several local organizations.
According to CECP (Chief Executives for Corporate Purpose®) Giving in Numbers: 2023 Edition, the median corporate donation as a percentage of pre-tax profit in 2022 was under one percent (0.94%). Diamond’s target is to exceed the median of all companies benchmarked. In 2023 Diamond’s corporate donation total as a percentage of pre-tax profit (1.02%) was just over one percent.
Diamond takes great pride in its talented and dedicated team members, all of whom help make it one of the most successful and innovative companies in the packaging industry.
Diamond believes that each employee contributes directly to the company's growth and success, and we hope everyone takes pride in being a member of our team.
